AUSMAP Community Day with Friends of Parks K.I. Western Districts
Sat, 07 Mar
|Vivonne Bay Beach

Time & Location
07 Mar 2026, 9:00 am – 11:00 am
Vivonne Bay Beach, Vivonne Bay SA 5223, Australia
About The Event
Join AUSMAP (Australian Microplastic Assessment Project) and Friends of Parks K.I. Western Districts for a hands-on citizen science event making a real difference to our coastal environment.
Be part of a growing national movement tackling plastic pollution by helping to collect and record microplastic data that contributes to Australia-wide research. Participants will learn how to sample and identify microplastics using AUSMAP’s scientifically validated method! The data collected on the day feeds directly into research that informs policy, education and environmental action!
After the survey, we’ll work together on a coastal clean-up to remove larger debris and prevent it from breaking down into future microplastics.
No prior experience is necessary – guidance and equipment will be provided. This is a family-friendly event and a great opportunity to connect with like-minded community members who care about protecting Kangaroo Island’s unique natural environment!
What to bring:
Sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses)
