AUSMAP in Tasmania

Data from 32 sampling sites across Tasmania paints an encouraging picture, with overall microplastic pollution remaining remarkably low. Nearly all sites reported fewer than 10 microplastics per square metre, classifying them as having Very Low pollution levels. This is a positive sign for Tasmania’s coastal health, but continued monitoring, particularly around estuaries and urban river systems, will be essential to keep these pristine conditions intact and quickly address any emerging pollution sources.
