The Australian Microplastic Assessment Project (AUSMAP) is the first nation-wide citizen science program designed to document and analyse microplastic pollution around Australia. Developed by Total Environment Centre, in conjunction with Macquarie University, Take 3 for the Sea and other core partners, the project will officially launch on Friday July 6th at Manly.
Overview
- 10:00am Guests arrive (including local MPs, council, MLCs)
- 10:30am Offical start
- 10:30am Local community group – STRAWllers – exit water holding straws collecting at Manly Cove
- 10:45am Welcome speeches : Jeff Angel (Director, Total Environment Centre), Dr Michelle Blewitt (Program Manager, AUSMAP) , Dr Scott Wilson (Research Scientist, AUSMAP)
- 11:00am Microplastic collection and demonstration on Manly Cove beach
- 11:15am Microplastic identification and morning tea, Manly Art Gallery
